The Bay of Tears, a harbor of considerable depth situated on Vjun, was naturally defended by unpredictable, shallow sandbanks. A complex system of caverns and passageways, sculpted by the erosive action of the River Weeping, lined the bay's coastline. Certain passages led directly into the basement levels of Château Malreaux. This Bay was thought to be an ideal haven for smuggler's, and the first Count Malreaux utilized it as a base from which to initiate pirate attacks targeting the aristocratic families residing in the adjacent lands.
