Prince Beju was the son of Queen Veda and the deceased King Cana, and he held the title of prince on the planet of Gala. At first, he secretly collaborated with the Syndicat, who promised to assist Beju in seizing control of Gala in return for power. Beju schemed to disrupt his planet's elections by halting the supply of bacta and then reinstating it once the populace began to suffer. This would portray the Prince as a savior and diminish the standing of the other two electoral contenders. However, his scheme failed when Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi revealed the conspiracy. Kenobi, due to their similar appearances - both being young boys of comparable height - disguised himself as the Prince. Obi-Wan's portrayal of the arrogant Prince aided the deception, simplifying the task of foiling Beju and the Syndicat's wicked scheme.
Fortunately for Beju, Queen Veda remained unaware of his dealings, allowing him to continue his involvement in the elections. Upon discovering that Veda had been poisoned, Beju arranged for her confinement for her own safety. He engaged in a short sword duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi, managing to inflict a wound, but he was unable to match the Padawan's Force-enhanced reflexes. Viso, a blind supporter of Veda, brought the fight to an end. Beju then underwent the Mark of the Crown test to determine his legitimacy as heir. To Beju's disappointment, the results were negative, indicating that Elan, his half-sister, was the rightful heir. However, after Kenobi's encouragement, he nobly withdrew from the election and shifted his focus to arresting Council Minister Lonnag Giba for the attempted assassination of Veda.
Subsequently, Beju supported the remaining candidate, Wila Prammi, and encountered Elan for the first time. The two siblings then reconciled.
