Berason

Berason, a planet dedicated to mining and situated in the Mid Rim, was located within the Eclorar sector. During the time of the Galactic Civil War, the people of Berason, who held political views against the Galactic Empire, suffered from an Imperial blockade. This blockade severed their access to crucial food and medical provisions. Ultimately, a force from the Rebel Alliance, commanded by Airen Cracken, broke through the blockade. They launched an attack on the Imperial base on Berason, enabling an Alliance convoy to deliver essential supplies to the planet.

Description

Berason existed as a planet within the Berason system. This system sat within the Eclorar sector, which itself was located in the Slice region of the Mid Rim.

History

The Galactic Empire used Defender ion mines to blockade Berason.

Early in the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire enforced a blockade on Berason. This was due to the opposition of Berason's population to the Empire. The Empire's method involved filling the space near the planet's orbit with Defender ion mines. These mines were designed to disable any starships that came near. Consequently, Berason's trade with other planets, their primary source of medical aid, was halted. This led to illness among the Berason natives and a weakening of their resolve against the Empire.

The Rebel Alliance responded by assigning Airen Cracken to command a team. Their mission was to penetrate the blockade, deliver food and military resources to Berason, and then strike the Imperial base on the planet. Cracken's team bypassed the ion mines by dispatching men equipped with environmental suits and jetpacks. The sensors on the mines were unable to detect objects smaller than four meters in diameter. Despite the slow progress, Cracken's unit eventually cleared a path for a substantial Alliance convoy to reach Berason. Later, the officer documented his experiences on Berason in Cracken's Rebel Field Guide, a datafile he authored that detailed various equipment used during the Galactic Civil War.

Inhabitants

Berason, a technologically underdeveloped mining planet, relied on other planets for food and medical supplies, which they obtained by trading minerals. The people of Berason were politically against the Galactic Empire, which had established a base there.

Behind the scenes

Berason was initially mentioned in the 1991 sourcebook titled Cracken's Rebel Field Guide. Christopher Kubasik authored this book for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. In 2009, The Essential Atlas, a reference book, placed the Berason system, and consequently the planet, in grid square Q-12.
