Besh-type personal starfighter

The Besh-type personal starfighter was a craft that borrowed heavily from the design of the B-wing starfighter.

Characteristics

The structural integrity of the Besh was a major strength, making it a durable vessel. While it possessed adequate speed, it generally couldn't match the velocity of contemporary military or cutting-edge vehicles. Thanks to design improvements, this vessel was easier to pilot than its Rebel predecessor.

Design

To better suit private owners, the Besh-type featured a significant reduction in armament and various other alterations compared to earlier B-wings. The cockpit was repositioned towards the center of the fighter, while the engines were relocated towards the edges of the central wing. Unlike the B-wing, the Besh had a fixed cockpit in the middle of the starfighter, eliminating the rotating feature. This change aimed to reduce disorientation during evasive maneuvers and improve the pilot's spatial awareness of the ship's dimensions during flight. It kept the folding S-foils for added stability.

The Besh incorporated moderately powerful, linked laser cannons mounted at the ends of the S-foils. Although the weapon systems were less powerful compared to the B-wing, the original connections and internal design remained. This allowed many fringers to extensively upgrade their Besh.

History

The Besh appealed to those nostalgic for a time before the rise of the Empire. Being a privately owned starfighter, it was frequently used by individuals and groups requiring a robust ship for navigating the more dangerous and less regulated regions of space.
