Bey was the son of a Corellian male human captain who piloted a tramp freighter; this man was also Bey's father.
The Nagai scout Krai H'voc, who had been dispatched to Corellia in advance of the Nagai's planned galactic invasion of the galaxy, encountered Bey's father. Rather than continue her mission, she settled on Corellia, and the two became romantically involved and wed. H'voc bore their son, Bey, the first known human/Nagai [hybrid](/article/hybrid/legends], in 36 BBY. H'voc's commanders discovered her marriage and commanded her to terminate the relationship and resume her mission of scouting the galaxy. H'voc obeyed, leaving her family with minimal explanation.
Bey's father harbored resentment towards H'voc for her abandonment, and in his inebriated state, he would lament her departure while gazing at her holos. Spice and drink ultimately led to his downfall. He directed his fury towards Bey, whose mixed ancestry became increasingly apparent as he matured, constantly reminding his father of his absent wife.
Bey learned a valuable lesson from his father's example, resolving to avoid the anger and mental instability that tormented the older man. This resolution drove him to seek out friendships, such as the one he developed with the orphaned Han Solo. After his departure from the [Corellian Security Force](/article/corellian_security_force] years later, Bey would embark on a quest to locate his mother, utilizing the clues left behind by his father.
