Black-powder pistol

The black-powder pistol represented an earlier form of slugthrower pistol, relying on the ignition of a flammable powder to propel a solid projectile. This weapon was prevalent among societies before the industrial age, characterized by its protracted reloading process.

Description

This black-powder pistol was considered a rudimentary slugthrower sidearm. It saw widespread use among pre-industrial societies. The weapon's reloading procedure was slow and complicated. In close-quarters combat, users typically had the opportunity to discharge only a single round before resorting to using the pistol as an improvised club or simply discarding it.

This type of pistol was an elaborate, long-barreled firearm, often featuring a grip adorned with inlays of semi-precious gems. Given its obsolete nature, its ownership or application was subject to minimal oversight. Due to the necessity of reloading after each shot, the black-powder pistol proved largely impractical in contemporary warfare. These pistols were prone to malfunction and demanded regular upkeep. Notwithstanding these drawbacks, their primary advantage resided in the fact that resourceful explorers could generally gather the necessary components to fabricate ammunition, irrespective of their location within the galaxy. A batch of 50 rounds of ammunition could be acquired for 5 credits per batch.

The black-powder pistol was commonly encountered as part of collections or as fully operational museum replicas, with some being manufactured by Yctor Arms.
