Bo-Dum

Bo-Dum, a member of the Hutt species, held a position as a relatively insignificant crime lord. Alongside his Hutt companion Rarsk, Bo-Dum exerted control over a planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories for a certain duration. Ultimately, Han Solo, the renowned Corellian smuggler, together with his co-pilot Chewbacca, brought about the defeat of these two Hutts.

Biography

Early career

Bo-Dum (left) and Rarsk were once members of the Hutt Cartel.

Bo-Dum belonged to the Hutts, a species characterized by their rotund gastropod forms, and known for their involvement in illicit activities throughout the galaxy. He and Rarsk, his associate, had previously been affiliated with the Hutt Cartel, a criminal organization and coalition of several Hutt clans, but they were subsequently expelled from the group. Unable to regain their standing within the Cartel through financial means, the two disreputable Hutts proceeded to enforce their authority on a planet located in the Outer Rim Territories that contained a Corellian settlement. Notably, they orchestrated the kill of the settlement's sheriff by their henchmen, leaving the colonists without legal protection. Furthermore, Bo-Dum developed an infatuation with Jenna, the daughter of the late sheriff. However, the Hutt's attraction to the young woman was not reciprocated in any way.

Meeting the Corellian Kid

On one occasion, the celebrated Corellian smuggler Han Solo and his Wookiee co-pilot Chewbacca experienced a crash landing on the planet aboard their ship, the Millennium Falcon. Pirate drones belonging to the Hutts were responsible for shooting down the Falcon, although its crew managed to survive. Unbeknownst to Bo-Dum and his partner, Jenna persuaded Solo to assist the settlers in liberating themselves from the Hutts' control. Meanwhile, Bo-Dum and Rarsk discovered that the ship their drones had downed was recoverable, but they remained unaware of the owner's identity.

Upon their arrival at the Corellian settlement, Bo-Dum found Jenna awaiting him. He made an attempt to assault her, but Chewbacca's growl interrupted him, with Jenna identifying the Wookiee as the new sheriff. Unwilling to confront a Wookiee, Bo-Dum retreated to the local cantina with Rarsk to formulate new strategies. While the Hutts were engaged in discussion, a masked figure identifying himself as "the Corellian Kid" informed them that the crashed ship belonged to Han Solo. Aware that Jabba Desilijic Tiure, another Hutt, had placed a price on Solo's head, Bo-Dum and Rarsk decided to enlist the Corellian Kid, promising him forty percent of the bounty upon salvaging the wreck of the Millennium Falcon. The following day at dawn, Bo-Dum, Rarsk, and the Corellian Kid set off for the crash site aboard a landspeeder. Upon their arrival, it became apparent that the entire arrangement was a setup. Not only were the Corellian settlers armed and awaiting them, but the Falcon had been fully repaired and restored to operational status. The so-called Corellian Kid, who was in fact Solo in disguise, abandoned the Hutts in their vehicle just moments before the settlers launched their attack. Emerging from his now damaged repulsorcraft, Bo-Dum witnessed the Millennium Falcon taking flight, carrying Solo, Chewbacca, and the Corellian settlers with it.

Personality and traits

Bo-Dum was a green-skinned Hutt who bore tattoos.

Bo-Dum, a male Hutt, was known to harbor a desire for at least one female Human, a fascination that most other Hutts considered both deviant and incomprehensible. As with all Hutts, Bo-Dum possessed a large and corpulent physique. He had yellow eyes and green skin. While Hutts were not entirely defenseless, possessing tails that could be employed as weapons to bludgeon their adversaries to death, Bo-Dum lacked the courage to engage Chewbacca in combat. On at least one occasion, Bo-Dum employed hypocritical humor, expressing how "sorry" he was upon "hearing" about the demise of Jenna's father.

Equipment

Bo-Dum was adorned with a purple pauldron on his right shoulder and a thick bracelet on the wrist of the same arm. He also displayed various tattoos on his belly, tail, chest area, and around his eyes.

Behind the scenes

Bo-Dum's initial appearance was in The Corellian Kid, a comic authored by Christopher Cooper and illustrated by Andres Ponce, which was released in 2014 within Star Wars Comic 7.11.
