The Bolotaur was a sizable reptilian being with an elongated neck, and it originated from the planet Kashyyyk.
Their lifespans were brief; however, they reproduced rapidly enough to maintain a substantial population. Bolotaurs spent their brief existence consuming food, a requirement driven by their exceptionally rapid metabolic rates.
Bolotaurs were occasionally domesticated and ridden as mounts. During the period of the Clone Wars, Trandoshan enslavers utilized them as mounts on Kashyyyk. During the Galactic Empire's occupation of Kashyyyk, scout troopers employed bolotaurs to traverse the hazardous landscapes of the wooded planet. Poachers drove these animals to the brink of extinction during the era of the Galactic Civil War.
The Star Wars Galaxies video game, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game created by Sony and released by LucasArts, featured Bolotaurs before the game's termination on December 15, 2011.
