Bondar

A bondar crystal Bondar is classified as a variety of lightsaber crystal.

These crystals functioned by transforming the lightsaber blade's energy into an alternative energy format. Lightsabers incorporating a bondar crystal were designed to deliver a stunning effect rather than a cutting one. Consequently, they found application in training lightsabers during the Old Republic period.

The solitary identified origin of bondar was an asteroid positioned in a distant orbit surrounding the Alderaan system. This particular crystal possessed the capability to briefly incapacitate an adversary upon superficial contact with the lightsaber.

Behind the scenes

Variations exist in how this crystal is depicted across different media.

In the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the crystal is featured as an enhancement for lightsabers. It grants a 25% probability of stunning an opponent for a single round upon impact.

Conversely, the Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide for the Saga Edition Roleplaying Game, which was released later, permits player-created Jedi to substitute a Bondar crystal for an Ilum crystal during lightsaber construction. This substitution results in the lightsaber becoming a non-lethal weapon designed for stunning. This article operates under the assumption that the latter depiction is the accurate one, given that the distinction between color crystals and upgrade crystals is exclusive to the Knights of the Old Republic and Force Unleashed video games.
