Boontaspiced mustard

Boontaspiced mustard was a type of mustard that was seasoned with Boontaspice. This condiment was fit for consumption by members of the Besalisk species. Its name, Boontaspiced mustard, came from Boonta, a planet situated in the Outer Rim Territories and found close to Hutt Space.

Before its destruction during the Galactic Empire's initial two years (first year), Dex's Diner, a restaurant located on the planet of Coruscant, offered Boontaspiced mustard. Dexter Jettster, the Besalisk chef and owner of the diner, incorporated Boontaspiced mustard into two items on his menu: the Giju slider and the gartro egg salad sandwich.

Behind the scenes

Gregory Walker created Boontaspiced mustard for the in-universe menu featured in the StarWars.com Hyperspace article "Dining at Dex's" in 2009. Boontaspiced mustard is based on Boontaspice, which was introduced in Steve Perry's 1996 novel, Shadows of the Empire. The designation "Boonta" is a reference to a planet that first appeared in the 1980s animated television program Star Wars: Droids.
