A primitive mammalian omnivore species originated on the Outer Rim planet known as Bosph. These creatures, possessing six limbs, were preyed upon by creatures called Luprisi, necessitating the use of intelligence to evade them. Over time, this species evolved into the sentient Bosph species, retaining the six-limbed characteristic of their ancestors.
The initial reference to the Bosph's precursor species occurred in 1997, within an entry co-authored by Trevor J. Wilson and Craig Robert Carey in their "Alien Encounters" article. This article, which included information about the Bosph, was featured in the thirteenth edition of the Star Wars Adventure Journal roleplaying supplement, published by West End Games. A condensed version of the article, which still mentioned the precursor species, was later included in the 1998 book Alien Encounters, a compilation of alien species curated by Paul Sudlow.
