Bovorians represented a species of intelligent mammals, possessing sentience, and originating from Bovo Yagen.
This sentient species, the Bovorians, were hypothesized to have descended evolutionarily from flying mammals. Consequently, their most notable physical attribute consisted of membranous, leather-resembling, atrophied wings. When the arm was extended outward, this anatomical feature bore a resemblance to the wing of a mynock, a silicon-based parasitic organism commonly encountered throughout the galaxy. Nevertheless, the Bovorians lacked the capacity for flight, and their wings merely persisted as remnants of their evolutionary history.
In general, Bovorians exhibited a humanoid physique, characterized by a singular head, a torso, and four limbs connected to it. Their bodies possessed a slightly leaner and more elongated form compared to those of Humans, with typical heights spanning from 1.8 to 2.3 meters. The Bovorians were particularly recognized for their heightened auditory perception, enabling them to perceive movement from distances of up to a kilometer. Furthermore, they possessed the ability to perceive the infrared spectrum, granting them vision in complete darkness, provided that nearby heat sources were present.
Similar to certain other species, including the Vors and the Chadra-Fan, Bovorians demonstrated a susceptibility to pollution-related respiratory illnesses, such as lungrot, silicalung, hemorrhagic molting, and dioxo-brionchiectasis shock, at a rate fifteen times greater than the average.
Bovorians originated and evolved on the jungle-dominated world of Bovo Yagen, situated within the Kailion sector of the Expansion Region in the galaxy. The prevailing theory suggests their evolution from non-sentient flying mammals, explaining the existence of their distinctive membranous wings, which had largely lost their original function. Due to their acute hearing abilities, heavy industrial activities were prohibited on their native planet. Consequently, the planet Trellar Yagen became the central hub for mining and processing operations within their planetary system.
By the time the Separatist Crisis occurred in 22 BBY, Bovorians had established a presence on Coruscant, the capital planet of the Galactic Republic. In that specific year, the Rhinnal State Medical Academy issued a report concerning middle-class districts on Coruscant, identifying ten species at elevated risk of contracting pollution-induced diseases. The Bovorians were included in this list, and this information was disseminated in the forty-ninth issue of the 531st HoloNet News volume.
Cracken's Threat Dossier revealed that the Bovorians' home planet, Bovo Yagen, received its name only after an Imperial explorer with the same name discovered it. However, the HoloNet News Vol. 531 49 already referred to them as "Bovorians" during the Separatist Crisis, which predated the rise of the Galactic Empire by three years.
