Bre'ano Umakk was a Jedi Master of the Mon Calamari species, a male individual, and a member of the Jedi Order before the Galactic Empire's rise to power.
As a Force-sensitive being from Mon Calamari, Bre'ano Umakk was identified by the Jedi at a young age. He was then brought to the Jedi Temple located on Coruscant to begin his training in the ways of the Force. Subsequently, following the First Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY, the Clone Wars began. This conflict arose after Obi-Wan Kenobi discovered a clandestine meeting involving leaders of major corporations, some of whom represented their planets in the Galactic Senate of the Republic, leading to the formation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Umakk participated in the fighting alongside clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic.
In 19 BBY, the war's final year, it became apparent that Palpatine, the Supreme Chancellor and leader of the Republic, was in fact the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. He had manipulated the war over the preceding years to eliminate the Jedi. Even amidst the fierce battles occurring in the Outer Rim, Palpatine, along with Anakin Skywalker (who had succumbed to the dark side and become Darth Vader), betrayed the Jedi. They achieved this by executing Order 66 and swaying the Galactic Senate to establish the Galactic Empire. Umakk survived this purge and found refuge on Dantooine, where he spent years training other Jedi survivors in defensive combat. He imparted his Jedi knowledge with the intention of defeating those who embraced the dark side.
