Bronco McLoughlin


Anthony Gerard McLoughlin, known professionally as Bronco McLoughlin (born August 10, 1938; died March 26, 2019), was an Irish individual who worked as a stunt performer. Although uncredited, he portrayed a stormtrooper in the movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.

For many years, McLoughlin was a highly active stunt actor. His initial role occurred in 1967's The Viking Queen, and his final role was in a 2014 episode of the TV show Vikings. He gained recognition for his scene in the 1986 movie The Mission, where he was depicted tied to a wooden cross as it floated down river rapids.

In the well-known opening of 1973's The Wicker Man, McLoughlin served as a double for Edward Woodward. He also collaborated extensively with Harrison Ford during the production of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), instructing Ford on the use of his character's signature bullwhip. His filmography also includes appearances in two James Bond movies, Superman (1978), Rambo III (1988), and Troy (2004).
