Bull's Eye Squadron

During the Clone Wars, a specialized starfighter squadron within the Galactic Republic forces, known as Bull's Eye Squadron, operated. This unit comprised clone pilots and was recognized for its deployment of uniquely modified Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighters in covert, high-stakes operations.

History

The Republic Starfleet maintained several elite units consisting of Elite Clone troopers piloting starfighters. These specialized squads were tasked with penetrating deep into enemy territory to conduct perilous reconnaissance and offensive missions. Bull's Eye Squadron was one such Aggressive ReConnaissance Elite Squadron, composed of highly skilled clone trooper pilots trained in both attack and reconnaissance, as well as proficient clone commandos, and astromech droids that provided essential in-flight support. Their training, based on techniques taught by Advanced Recon Commandos, prepared them for the diverse and dangerous challenges they would face. These elite units distinguished themselves during the Outer Rim Sieges, delivering critical intelligence and support during campaigns on key Separatist worlds.

As the Clone Wars progressed, Bull's Eye Squadron became known for its ARC-170 starfighters, which featured a distinctive red "tiger-stripe" pattern on their wings and nose art. This design likely drew inspiration from the Mandalorian shriek-hawk, further emphasizing their elite status. This decorative style mirrored that of their Razor Squadron counterparts, but with red stripes instead of blue. Similar to Razor Squadron, Bull's Eye Squadron pilots probably wore helmets adorned with the same striping as their starfighters, indicating their squad affiliation. Furthermore, Bull's Eye Squadron Clone Troopers wore armor with corresponding red stripes, and helmets with Jaig eyes styled like the nose art on their ships, suggesting their selection from clones who had demonstrated exceptional bravery in combat and received commendations.

The pilots of Bull's Eye Squadron displayed a more aggressive flying style than their counterparts in standard units like Red Squadron, Blue Squadron, and even Captain Davijaan's Squad Seven. As an elite recon and infiltration unit, Bull's Eye Squadron prioritized enhancing defensive capabilities while aiming for superior accuracy and precision. To achieve this balance, they modified their starfighters to allocate more power to shields rather than weapons. In contrast, Razor Squadron's ARC-170s were modified to maximize weapon power, reflecting their focus on surgical strike missions against significant military targets and installations behind enemy lines.

The Clone Wars-era Bull's Eye Squadron ARC-170 design is based on a red-colored variant of the Republic ARC Gunships seen in episode 21 of the Clone Wars animated series, which aired on Cartoon Network.

The WizKids' Imperial Power-up Pack, a starter pack for the Star Wars PocketModel TCG sold at Target, included a coupon for a Bull's Eye Squadron game piece. This marked the first appearance of the Squadron's name and likely took inspiration from Target's store logo, which features a red target on a white background.
