The Tatooine Bureau of Ethnicity and Socialization functioned as a department within the mining settlement active on Tatooine during the sixth century BBY. One notable employee of this bureau was Alkhara, an anthropologist whose research focused on the Tusken Raiders; he briefly aligned himself with them before ultimately betraying them to create his own criminal organization.

For several years following the conclusion of Alkhara's reign of terror, the Bureau continued its struggle against isolated groups of his adherents, who still embraced the chaotic ideology he had promoted. In 1 ABY, the Bureau engaged the services of a spacer with the objective of eradicating the remaining Alkhara loyalists and completely obliterating his legacy.
