The C-22 fragmentation grenade from Merr-Sonn was a type of grenade that used a small detonite explosive surrounded by a pre-stressed chrome outer shell. When it exploded, the grenade scattered shrapnel across a circular area, ten meters across.
The grenade's timer could be adjusted by rotating a dial located on its top, allowing delays of up to two minutes. Activating the detonite charge and starting the timer was done by pressing a panel on the grenade's edge. Keeping this panel pressed paused the timer, and entering a specific code would disarm the primer.
This C-22 device could be deployed by throwing it, or it could be accurately positioned for demolition purposes using a magnetic grapple attached to its bottom. When used in this manner, it could function as a type of mine.
