A Cacodemon was a demon from mythology whose origins lie in tales from the Core Worlds. These frightful beings, doomed to perish in sunlight but thriving in darkness, emerged from the underworld's gloom to bring terror to the galaxy's inhabitants. The legends surrounding these entities reached even the Mid Rim planet of Naboo. According to Jedi Master Restelly Quist, the Trial of Spirit – a component of the five Trials of Knighthood – could force a Padawan to confront their deepest anxieties, occasionally taking the form of a cacodemon.
