Callsigns, which can also be written as call sign, represented the frequency designations or numerical identifiers allocated to each pilot within a starfighter squadron. These were implemented to reduce the time spent on communication and to prevent any misunderstandings. The term also referred to a squad operating on a communications net, in addition to infantry teams.
