CAP-2 Captivator
The CAP-2 Captivator represented a specific walker design utilized by both the Galactic Empire and independent bounty hunters. This vehicle accommodated a single pilot, who stood within a transparent, bubble-like enclosure atop the two legs that propelled the walker. Protruding from the front were a pair of mechanical arms, each terminating in remotely controlled claws, with a blaster cannon situated between them. A substantial mechanism on the rear served to hold captured prisoners during transit. Sensors were integrated into the CAP-2 Captivator's feet, enabling it to surveil its targets.
During the Galactic Civil War, a conflict between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, Imperial spies employed the CAP-2 Captivator to seize unaware Rebels. Similarly, bounty hunters frequently utilized these walkers to capture those they were pursuing. Bossk stands as an example of a bounty hunter who used the CAP-2 Captivator for this very purpose.
Behind the scenes
The CAP-2 Captivator's genesis lies in 1982, when it was created by Kenner for their Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back toy line. The toy's packaging depicted Bossk employing the walker to apprehend Rebel Colonel Ledick Firest and deliver him to Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith.
