The Helot's Shackle seizure represents an Alliance to Restore the Republic undertaking aimed at freeing slaves. These individuals were being moved from Ylesia, a planet controlled by the Besadii Hutt clan, aboard the CR90 corvette known as the Helot's Shackle. Positioned outside the Ylesia system, Red Hand Squadron, led by Bria Tharen and consisting of the Marauder-class corvette named Retribution along with the Y-wing starfighters of Crimson Fury, initiated a hyperspace jump into the system after a signal from a rebel agent confirmed the Helot's Shackle's departure from Ylesia, after which they began their assault. The Rebels boarded and seized control once the targeted ship was crippled, killing a significant portion of the slaver personnel during the operation. Tharen ordered the execution of the injured slavers before meeting with the rebel vessel Deliverance to offload the freed slaves, many of whom chose to enlist within the Alliance's ranks. The Helot's Shackle was then modified for rebel military use, and Tharen gave the ship a new name: Emancipator.
