Groundcar
A groundcar on Jomark
A groundcar refers to any kind of vehicle that utilizes wheels for movement. Often just called cars, they share similarities with landspeeders, but their primary distinction lies in their reliance on rotating wheels instead of repulsorlifts for locomotion. While this method represents an older and generally slower technology, and is more susceptible to breakdowns, it served as an affordable alternative to speeders, particularly on paved roads.
While the majority of groundcars were designed as urban transportation for civilians, some were utilized as military vehicles, such as the armored groundcar, and even enormous vehicles like the HAVw A6 Juggernaut.
The term was also sometimes used to describe certain tracked vehicles, for example personnel carriers.
