Chinshassa, a city situated on the planet of Shalyvane, met its end during the Galactic Civil War when it was obliterated by an Imperial assault. This sacred place for the Em'liy, nestled near the revered Circle of Kavaan, was unexpectedly reduced to rubble by the Imperials. This act was part of a larger scheme targeting the Rebel Alliance. To provide a believable cover story for Shira Brie, an Imperial operative, the Imperials fabricated a narrative claiming Brie was a refugee from Chinshassa, which they falsely attributed to Em'liy aggression.
Despite the Em'liy being aware of the fabrication, the obliteration of Chinshassa was a source of deep humiliation, leading them to shun the ruined city for a considerable period. Brie bolstered her false identity by visiting Chinshassa with several Rebel pilots, resulting in a skirmish with Em'liy seeking retribution. Subsequently, Commander Luke Skywalker of the Rebellion journeyed to Chinshassa to investigate Brie, following her apparent death in a friendly fire incident. During his visit, a surviving native revealed the truth, clarifying the actual circumstances of Chinshassa's demise.
