Its overall appearance closely mirrored various Imperial outposts and research facilities found on planets throughout the Galactic Empire. This similarity stemmed from the fact that the various urban sprawls within the battle station were constructed using prefabricated Imperial building components. North 7:A68 exemplified the standard design found in the numerous regional structures on the station's surface. It featured a variety of turbolaser towers, strategically positioned atop multi-story buildings to act as skyline batteries, and designed to function in a coordinated offensive manner. Furthermore, massive workstations were in place to support and manage shield generators, co-located with space traffic control towers. Like other sectors, this area also boasted expansive communication islands, surrounded by a multitude of sensor arrays, designed to manage both incoming and outgoing voice and holo transmissions.
Despite A68's largely autonomous nature as a village, its communication and sensor networks were consistently streamed to the command sector located in Zone N7. These streams were then relayed directly to the internal computer systems of the Overbridge, providing a comprehensive overview of the entire station's activity and status for the command center's review, and allowing the computers to assume direct control when necessary.
This sector also housed representatives from all the primary divisions operating on the Death Star. Each division (Command, military, security, service/technical, hangar, and general) maintained operational centers within the area. Each of these operational centers was headed by a commanding officer, who reported to the interior command structure, ultimately reporting to Operations Command, which included the core leadership triumvirate of Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, Admiral Conan Antonio Motti, and High General Cassio Tagge.
Additionally, A68 was situated in close proximity to the thermal exhaust port at the end of the Meridian trench. It included three XX-9 heavy turbolaser batteries, alongside three shield projection towers, a command center, general quarters, communications posts, heat sinks, sensor suite fields, a landing platform, cosmic ray sinks, energy flush vents, and a sensor array station.
