The CMC-RP05 resource pad represented a smaller iteration of the CMC-22 mining facility, an installation conceived by the Corellia Mining Corporation. Typically deployed in areas abundant with resources suitable for surface mining, this pad was designed to extract and refine unprocessed materials, albeit with a significant degree of waste. Both the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire employed these resource pads to facilitate the rapid extraction of raw materials, which were then sold to generate revenue. In exchange for the utilization of these pads, a portion of the resulting profits was remitted to the Corellia Mining Corporation.
