A walker of the MT-AT variety is housed inside a cocoon pod. Cocoon pods functioned as transport vessels, specifically designed for the deployment of MT-AT walkers, and potentially other vehicles too. To assist in the controlled landing, each pod was equipped with a droid brain. The walker, or the item being transported, was secured within the pod by a protective, gel-like material. This deployment strategy shares similarities with the way Viper probe droids were launched.
