Colby Hoff

Colby Hoff was a male individual who, in the past, acted as an irritating business rival to Prince Xizor, the leader of the Black Sun criminal organization. Following an unsuccessful attempt to outmaneuver Xizor that resulted in his financial downfall, Colby took his own life by discharging a blaster inside his mouth, causing a catastrophic head injury.

Driven by a desire to avenge his father's demise, Hoff's son subsequently launched a surprise attack against Xizor within a secure passage on the planet of Coruscant in 3.5 ABY. Xizor, remaining composed, overpowered his attacker and broke the young man's neck, commenting that Colby Hoff had been unwise to challenge him.

Behind the scenes

The character of Colby Hoff was initially referenced in the 1996 novel titled Shadows of the Empire, authored by Steve Perry. The 1998 Star Wars Encyclopedia and the 2000 publication A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, Third Edition, Revised and Expanded both indicated that Xizor orchestrated Colby Hoff's assassination. However, the 2008 The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia later provided clarification, stating that Hoff died by suicide, aligning with the narrative presented in the novel.
