Control cable

Control cables represented a specific category of durasteel cable, integral to the fabrication of contemporary Podracers.

Description

Originating from the reins employed in the archaic chariot and cart races involving beasts, which served as a precursor to Podracing, control cables were durasteel-constructed components that linked a Podracer's cockpit to its engines. Characterized by their length and flexibility, these cables contained the necessary wiring to establish a connection between the controls and the engines. Although the majority of Podracers utilized these cables, a small number of unique pods featured engines directly attached to the cockpit, thus eliminating the need for cables. Despite their durability, these cables constituted the weakest link in a Podracer, susceptible to breakage and failure when subjected to excessive stress.
