He was stationed on a planet where the inhabitants were impoverished and eager to earn even a single credit, although he thought the women possessed an excess of spirit. Unbeknownst to Creeve, one of the base's technicians, named Troomis, was secretly acting as a spy for Alliance Intelligence. Motivated by the death of Troomis' sister following a confrontation with Creeve that resulted in a scar on the captain's neck, Troomis plotted to exact revenge.
