Crescent-class Transport
The Crescent-class Transport, alternatively known as the Crescent-class freighter, represented a swift, high-end courier vessel. It was produced by the Hyrotii Corporation.
Description
The Crescent-class marked the initial venture of Hyrotii Corporations into the light freighter design arena. Its primary target demographic was the youthful, well-to-do population with a penchant for interstellar travel. It was promoted as a high-performing courier and express delivery spacecraft.
Featuring a refined and aerodynamic structure, the Crescent-class prioritized velocity over cargo capacity. It came standard with a class one hyperdrive system and high-velocity Ion drives. However, this design choice resulted in only moderate shielding capabilities and limited armaments, forcing it to primarily depend on its speed and agility for self-defense.
The interior of the vessel included all the amenities one would expect from a Hyrotii luxury product. It boasted lavishly furnished interiors, an impressive array of controls within the cockpit, state-of-the-art food preparation technology in the galley, and advanced holo-entertainment systems in the lounge.
Despite its appealing attributes, upgrading the spacecraft posed certain challenges. Nevertheless, despite these limitations, solutions existed to enhance the vessel's performance. Notably, the three-person escape pod located beneath the cockpit could be repurposed into an additional weapons bay. Furthermore, the passenger cabins could be modified to accommodate extra shield generators, enhanced sensors, or other electronic systems. Moreover, the ship's power couplings were routed through the central corridor, simplifying the process of rerouting power. Sensor jamming suites, though typically power-intensive and difficult to integrate into a light freighter, were relatively straightforward to install on a Crescent-class. While further increasing the ship's speed proved difficult, it was not impossible. Overall, transforming a standard Crescent-class into a smuggler's preferred vessel was not overly complicated.
Consequently, numerous spacers who earned their living through scams or theft found the ship to be an appealing choice due to its speed and luxuriousness. The speed facilitated rapid escapes, while the ship's widely recognized reputation for luxury made customs officials and patrol ships less likely to bother the vessel, fearing they might offend a Moff or important person.
