In the legal framework of the Galactic Republic, the most severe war crime that an individual could face accusation for was termed a crime against civilization. The Galactic Senate functioned as the jury in any trial concerning such crimes, while the Supreme Chancellor held the position of the presiding judge.
Ulic Qel-Droma faced a trial for committing crimes against civilization due to his involvement in the events of the Great Sith War. During the period of the Clone Wars, Kar Vastor was formally accused of crimes against civilization because of his participation in the Battle of Haruun Kal; however, for reasons that remain unclear, he seemingly did not undergo a trial. Furthermore, Depa Billaba was also slated to be put on trial for the same offenses as Vastor; however, her descent into a comatose state effectively prevented her from being tried.
