Cory enrolled in the academy in 5 BBY and completed his studies in 1 BBY. General Rom Mohc oversaw Cory's graduation ceremony. Following a speech to the cadets, Mohc announced the names of those receiving awards for valor and merit, which included Cory.
The character Dana Cory was initially referenced in the audio adaption of the short novel Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire, which debuted in 1997. Due to the character's name being exclusively spoken in the audio adaption, the accurate spelling of the name remains uncertain.
