Dark illusion

A dark side ritual represented an age-old Sith magical practice, granting a Force user visions beyond normal perception. This involved a bond between two individuals and a single drop of blood from one of them. The ritual commenced with the recitation of a specific incantation, followed by the application of Force lightning to the blood droplet on a designated altar. Subsequently, the blood donor was required to concentrate on the other participant, employing illusions to control them.

Description

This dark side ritual served as a method for Sith Lords to assault their adversaries through the manipulation of potent dark illusions. To the intended victim, the illusion would seem to be genuine events and be indistinguishable from reality.

Within these illusions, the target could interact with fabricated replicas of acquaintances and utilize their real-world abilities. Furthermore, they would experience pain and suffering as if real. Death within the illusion could also lead to actual death.

Application

The ritual necessitated the involvement of two Sith Lords: one sharing a Force-bond with another Force user, and a Sith Master to conduct the ceremony. The two Sith participants would position themselves beside a sacrificial altar basin. The Sith possessing the Force bond would inflict a minor cut upon themselves, allowing a single drop of blood to mix with the water within the altar basin. Upon contact, the water would transform into a black hue.

The ceremony would then commence as the Sith master began to utter an ancient Sith invocation in the Balc language. Nearing the incantation's conclusion, both Sith would unleash Force lightning upon the water, causing it to emanate an unsettling mist. To initiate the illusion, the Sith Master would then submerge their face into the basin, acquiring the capability to project dark illusions and infiltrate the mind of their victim for manipulation.

If the intended victim was a Jedi, the Sith could obscure their true identity by appearing as a trusted and familiar individual.

Users

Darth Sidious conducts the Dark side ritual.

Sith Lord Darth Sidious effectively employed this ritual. Towards the conclusion of the Clone Wars conflict, Jedi Master Yoda embarked on a quest to uncover the secret of preserving one's spirit after death, venturing to the ancient Sith world of Moraband. Sensing his presence, Darth Sidious summoned his apprentice Darth Tyranus to the LiMerge Building with the intention of assailing Yoda through the dark side ritual. Through this ritual, the two Sith Lords were successful in crafting an illusion that overwhelmed Yoda's mental state within Darth Bane's tomb.

Sidious initially presented himself to Yoda in the guise of the long-deceased Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, tempting him with knowledge of Sidious's true identity. Subsequently, Sidious immersed Yoda in an illusion where he and fellow Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker were closing in on the Siths' clandestine hideout. During an intense lightsaber battle, Sidious mocked Yoda, stating that if he were to allow Anakin's demise, he could thwart Sidious and avert his attack on the Jedi Order. However, the Jedi Master chose to sacrifice himself to ensure Anakin's survival. Despite this, Yoda emerged from the ritual with his mind intact.
