Elite stormtroopers, enhanced by the dark side of the Force, formed the Darktroopers. These soldiers were utilized by the Dark Empire during Operation Shadow Hand and were a cut above the rest. Selected from the top troopers of the legions, they underwent limited Force training, vastly increasing their combat effectiveness compared to typical stormtroopers. In 10 ABY, they were deployed under the leadership of Zasm Katth and Baddon Fass on Nar Shaddaa, and subsequently on Ossus under Sedriss QL's command.
A misunderstanding occurred in the 1998 Star Wars: Rebellion real-time strategy game. The game incorrectly associated the dark trooper battle droids with the Darktroopers, implying that these droids were actually Force-sensitive stormtroopers equipped with "enhanced exo-armor and weaponry."
