Biography
Davod Jon, a Human, held the rank of colonel within the ranks of the Galactic Empire. He was an officer in the Imperial Army, and his promotion came as a result of his skills and bravery as a scout. He led a Special Forces unit within the Empire's military structure.
Shortly before the Battle of Endor occurred in 4 ABY, Jon was among the Imperial personnel who witnessed the Dark Lord Darth Vader's arrival on the second Death Star. Vader came to pressure Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod, the commander of the battle station, to speed up the construction of the superweapon. Jerjerrod responded by promising to double the efforts of his construction crews. Later, Jon stood with Vader and other officers in one of the Death Star's hangar bays, awaiting the arrival of Emperor Palpatine on the battlestation. Jon then served under Admiral Firmus Piett, the commanding officer of the Star Dreadnought Executor and Death Squadron, which was Vader's personal fleet, during the Battle of Endor.

Behind the scenes

Davod Jon's initial appearance was as one of the many Imperial personnel awaiting Darth Vader's arrival on the second Death Star at the beginning of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, released in 1983. He was played by an uncredited actor. Later, he was given a name and a brief backstory in the Death Star II Limited expansion set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, which was released in 2000.
Images on the fan Web site T-bone's Star Wars Universe suggest that Davod Jon was intended to be in at least one more scene in Return of the Jedi, but it was ultimately cut. The final two of six images from the provided link are from an extended version of the Emperor's arrival on the second Death Star, a scene that appears later in the movie. The penultimate image depicts Jon as part of a group of officers greeting Palpatine in a docking bay.
Footage from Vader's arrival on the Death Star in the opening scene of Return of the Jedi was reused in the 1997 Special Edition of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. This was done to show Vader arriving on his flagship, the Executor, after his duel with Luke Skywalker in Cloud City. Therefore, the extras who portrayed the Imperial personnel awaiting Vader's Death Star arrival in Return of the Jedi, including the actor who played Jon, are visible in The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition. However, it is not canonically established that Davod Jon was aboard the Executor in the reused scene.
