De-Orbiting Kinetic Anti-emplacement Weapon

De-Orbiting Kinetic Anti-emplacement Weapons, also known as DOKAWs, were essentially guided meteorite weapons. These consisted of durasteel rods, equipped with basic guidance, thrusters, and an ion engine, positioned in orbit above a planet experiencing combat. Once initiated, the DOKAW – with a total mass exceeding 200 kilograms, including a 100-kilogram durasteel core – would be brought out of orbit. It would then be directed to strike its intended target at a velocity of 30,000 kilometers per hour.

These weapons possessed notable limitations. Their deployment was restricted to scenarios where the opposing force lacked space-capable assets or ground-based turbolasers, as either could intercept and eliminate the DOKAWs while they were still orbiting. Furthermore, they proved ineffective against moving targets. However, their low production cost led to their deployment across numerous planets throughout the Clone Wars.
