DeepWater-class light freighter

The DeepWater-class light freighter represented a transport design originating from Mon Calamari Shipyards.

Characteristics

Reflecting typical Mon Calamari construction, each individual DeepWater freighter possessed unique variations. This class of freighter extended 45 meters in overall length, with the capacity to accommodate a maximum of six passengers and 85 metric tons of freight. The standard armament included a double laser cannon.

Consistent with the Mon Calamari approach to design, the DeepWater-class featured a robust hull, powerful defensive shields, and a secondary shield system. For interstellar travel, it incorporated a hyperdrive system. Due to its design for a water-dominated planet, it also had submersible capabilities.

History

The DeepWater-class appeared before the standard Mon Calamari light freighters and was among the initial Mon Calamari designs available for purchase.

In 21 BBY, Kal Skirata acquired one of these vessels for a price of 80,000 credits, subsequently naming it Aay'han. Skirata utilized this freighter in the rescue of a Mandalorian individual named Walon Vau, from the icy world of Mygeeto. It also served in the search efforts for the renegade Kaminoan scientist, Ko Sai.

During 0 ABY, Mitth'raw'nuruodo, a Senior Captain within the Imperial Navy, and his associate Jorj Car'das piloted a freighter of this type, known as the Lost Reef. They used it during their successful operation to thwart the alien warlord Nuso Esva's ambitions to seize control of the Candoras sector.
