Dennis Muren, born on November 1, 1946, is a special effects expert. His work can be seen in the initial five Star Wars movies and the original Star Tours attraction. He also holds a position as a member within the Intellectual Property Development Group.
Muren's achievements include six Academy Awards in the category of Best Visual Effects. These awards were for his work on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Innerspace, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Jurassic Park. Furthermore, on June 3, 1999, Muren was honored with a star located on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Muren secured a position at ILM in 1976. This occurred shortly after he completed his associate degree in business. His initial task was contributing to George Lucas's then-forthcoming movie, Star Wars.
Muren's contributions to the Star Wars franchise were recognized with two Special Achievement Awards. He received these awards for Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
