A density projector functioned much like a tractor beam generator, and the Confederacy of Independent Systems' B3 ultra battle droid employed it. This device augmented the droid's density, effectively allowing it to secure itself firmly in place. When an ultra battle droid activated its density projector, toppling it became an almost impossible task, even for a Jedi employing the Force. Nevertheless, operational failures occasionally prevented ultra battle droids from switching off their density projectors, making them vulnerable targets for Republic artillery fire. This flaw in the design limited the full potential of these otherwise remarkable droids, and Baktoid Combat Automata could not fix the issue until the Clone Wars were nearly over.
