Destris Veran, a male individual of the Human species, was a slicer (a type of computer expert) who resided on Nar Shaddaa during the era known as the Cold War (between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire). He is classified within Legends continuity.
He was once a member of the Cult of the Screaming Blade, a group under the leadership of Sith Lord Paladius. However, he and Rylee Dray abandoned the cult when they realized Paladius's promises were false. As a consequence, Paladius's followers attempted to execute them, but they were rescued by the apprentice of Darth Zash (the individual who would become Darth Nox), who sought Paladius to acquire an artifact he possessed. Destris suggested that the Sith Inquisitor take control of the Krayts gang to gain the support of the lower classes, while Rylee advised curing the Rot disease to achieve the same goal, as the best strategy to lure Paladius out was to take over his cult.
After moving to Strell House on the Promenade, Rylee and Destris informed the Inquisitor about the gathering of Paladius' followers at Meridian Hall. They proposed a plan to deceive his supporters by triggering the gas pipes beneath the hall to simulate a groundquake, and they connected the Sith with Gord Madel to execute the plan. Following a demonstration of power, Paladius invited Rylee, Destris, and the Sith to his sanctuary for a meeting. There, he tried to assassinate the Sith, but he was ultimately defeated.
Despite Paladius's desperate pleas, he was killed. Rylee and Destris then assumed control of the cult, amassing power for their new master. Around 3641 BBY, the Sith, now known as Lord Kallig, returned to them in search of a CN-12 sensor chip. Rylee and Destris explained that the Veil, their rival organization, possessed the chip.
Destris Veran is featured as a non-player character in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by BioWare and released in 2011. Fred Tatasciore provides the voice for the character.
If Rylee and Destris are killed in the dark-side alignment choice, Paladius will regain leadership of the cult. Conversely, in the light-side alignment choice, Rylee and Destris are spared and lead the cult in the Inquisitor's name, but they may subsequently lose control to the Veil. Otherwise, they are present at their master's ascension to the Dark Council.
