The DEMP 2 ion carbine, also known as the Destructive Electromagnetic Pulse 2, discharged potent ion bursts. These bursts were able to incapacitate electronic devices and stun living beings. Its effective range extended from three to 120 meters.
This weapon, the DEMP 2, featured a pair of firing modes: a standard mode which used a small number of charges for each shot, and an enhanced mode. The enhanced mode launched a more powerful projectile which detonated upon striking a surface, thus dispersing ion damage in the immediate area.
