Diehard
Diehards were a species of burrowing, predatory insect that originated on Atraken.
Biology and appearance
These creatures possessed a durable chitinous exoskeleton and ten legs. They had formidable mandibles, which served as their primary weapon for subduing prey. Diehards demonstrated a high level of resistance to energy-based weaponry, including blasters. Furthermore, they exhibited immunity to radiation, poisons, and a range of viral infections.
Behavior
Lacking sentience, they displayed extreme aggression. They typically hunted in groups, overwhelming their targets with sheer numbers, and once latched on, proved exceedingly difficult to dislodge.
History
These creatures were the sole species that managed to endure the toxic contamination of their native planet during the Clone Wars, thus acquiring their distinctive moniker. Notably, they also served as a food source for the cidwen.
