Djerba Shown on a Map Encompassing 514 km², Djerba (جربة in Arabic) is the largest island situated off the coast of North Africa. It can be found in the Gulf of Gabes, near the shores of Tunisia. In April 1976, Sidi Jemour along with Ajim, both located in western Djerba, served as filming locations for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
The name of the Tatooine beast of burden, Jerba, was derived from the island's name.
