Draethos
Draethos were a predatory species of humanoid form, originating from the planet Draethos. A defining characteristic was their extended natural lifespan.
Biology and appearance

The Draethos were characterized by prominent teeth that extended beyond their mouths, creating an overbite-like feature. The absence of lips further accentuated this overbite. Their scaly skin exhibited a range of colors, including blue, purple, and black. Their hands displayed an interstitial webbing between their fingers, which terminated in slender, claw-like tips. Their evolutionary history as cave dwellers granted them the ability to see in low-light conditions.
Draethos individuals could achieve ages exceeding one thousand years. In contrast to their longevity, their childhood was relatively brief. They experienced rapid maturation, reaching adulthood at the age of 18, followed by a prolonged period of robust health lasting approximately four centuries. A Draethos was considered middle-aged at four hundred years. Advanced age, or elder status, was not reached until around seven hundred years.
Whether warriors or intellectuals, Draethos possessed the capacity for telepathy, enabling them to communicate with any sentient being within a radius of about five hundred meters. This ability was confined to communication; Draethos could not penetrate the thoughts of others.
Society and culture
The Draethos society, in part because of their long lifespans, evolved slowly and was deeply rooted in tradition. Their culture was centered on the warrior ethos. Those residing on their homeworld were expected to demonstrate their skill in martial arts or hunting. Life on Draethos was difficult, with arrogant aristocrats constantly vying for social status and riches. Gladiators, mercenaries, hunters, and soldiers were always in great demand.
Pacifist philosophies were scorned on Draethos. Those who consciously rejected the warrior lifestyle were banished, forced to seek refuge among alien species. Consequently, despite their reputation as fierce fighters, the majority of Draethos encountered off-world were peaceful and intellectual.
Draethos in the galaxy

Draethos who ventured off-world were typically exiles who had opted out of the warrior culture, resulting in them being highly intelligent and pacifistic. They generally had a great desire to learn as much as possible, even if they were unlikely to ever put their detailed knowledge of a particular subject to practical use. The stability of Draethos culture made it difficult for exiled Draethos to comprehend the complex and relatively rapid changes occurring in other societies.
The most well-known Draethos was Odan-Urr, a celebrated Jedi Master who established the Great Library of Ossus.
