DS-61-3, who went by the moniker "Backstabber," was a TIE pilot serving the Imperial forces, originating from Corellia. He was notorious for his brutal combat tactics and served as Darth Vader's direct wingman in Black Squadron. Together with Vader and his fellow co-pilot "Mauler" Mithel, Backstabber gained notoriety for participating in numerous attacks on Ralltiir and Mon Calamari, solidifying Black Squadron's position as the most dreaded squadron within the Empire. During the Battle of Yavin, he piloted Black 3, providing support to Darth Vader and successfully defending the station's Thermal exhaust port until Luke Skywalker managed to get behind him. Ultimately, he was shot down by the Millennium Falcon as the battle concluded.
