The catalyst for this duel was Sing's near-fatal attack on Laranth Tarak, who was an ally of Pavan's and a Gray Paladin. Following a short lightsaber duel, Pavan managed to ensnare Sing within a reposticator filled with sand, causing her to gradually sink.
