A confrontation transpired in the year 20 BBY, pitting the esteemed Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker against the Dark Acolyte Asajj Ventress. This clash occurred within the Underlevels of Coruscant, the galactic capital.
Following the Battle of Rendili, where the rogue Jedi Quinlan Vos surrendered, he was brought to Coruscant to face judgment from the Jedi Council. Anakin Skywalker, a participant in the battle, provided testimony regarding Vos's actions during the conflict. After completing his testimony, Skywalker was dismissed.
Subsequently, Skywalker proceeded to the Senate Office Building for a rendezvous with his secretly wedded wife, Padmé Amidala. Instead, he was met by one of her handmaidens, who informed him that Senator Amidala was occupied with Senate matters, while handing him a holodisc from her. As Skywalker made his way to the Coruscant Underlevels to listen to the hologram, he was unaware that the Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress was secretly following him.
Ventress made her presence known, surprising Skywalker as he listened to the hologram on his speeder in a dilapidated structure. Using the Force, she seized the holodisc from him, listening to it with disdain before destroying it. Ventress informed Skywalker that she was on Coruscant to hunt down Quinlan Vos and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but then decided to settle for him. She then threatened Senator Amidala's life, enraging Skywalker, who launched a ferocious attack.
Ventress effortlessly deflected Skywalker's attacks, remarking on their weakness. Evading a strike aimed at her legs, she questioned why she was wasting her time with Skywalker when she could be searching for Senator Amidala. Following this, Ventress retreated further into the building, with an incensed Anakin Skywalker in fervent pursuit. Ambushing the Jedi, Ventress succeeded in slashing Skywalker across the face, leaving a scar on his jaw. As they separated, Ventress swiftly resumed her offensive. During the fight, Ventress again managed to slash Skywalker across the face, inflicting his distinctive vertical scar next to his eye. Skywalker retaliated, slashing her across the left cheek.
Barely acknowledging the injury, Ventress boasted that she could have beheaded Skywalker with that strike, and claimed that Skywalker had merely been fortunate in their previous encounter. She went as far as to declare that she would impart a final lesson to Skywalker regarding the superiority of the Dark Side before killing him. Unfortunately for her, she pushed Skywalker too far, causing him to completely lose control.
Unleashing a torrent of devastating blows, Skywalker forced Ventress to the edge of the building, before blasting her off the edge and telekinetically ensnaring her in a mass of live electrical wires. He then tortured her by holding her in the wires using the Force as she was electrocuted, before finally releasing her. The wires snapped, unable to withstand Ventress' weight, and she became further entangled as she plummeted into a pit below. Skywalker gazed at the pit for a brief moment, before turning his back on his vanquished foe and departing.
By succumbing to his rage during the battle, Anakin Skywalker propelled himself closer to the dark side of the Force and his eventual downfall. Despite sustaining severe injuries, Asajj Ventress survived.
