Duel on the Executor

The lightsaber duel known as the Duel on the Executor unfolded on Darth Vader's command ship, the Executor flagship. This confrontation happened subsequent to Vader's act of bringing the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 onto his vessel. The Sith Lord tried unsuccessfully to corrupt R2, tempting him to join the dark side, but the droid resisted and activated a lightsaber. A brief fight then occurred, with R2 using rocket boosters to move quickly around the Sith Lord. The astromech droid gained an advantage, disarming Darth Vader by knocking his lightsaber away and then severing the control panel from his armor. Severely damaged and unable to breathe properly, Vader was taken by surprise when C-3PO accidentally bumped into him, sending him falling into a carbon-freezing chamber. To the joy of the two droids, the Dark Lord of the Sith was then encased in carbonite.
