Edjian-Prince

The central character, Edjian-Prince, featured prominently in the sorrowful drama entitled Uhl Eharl Khoehng. The celebrated actor Adalric Cessius Brandl regarded this play as the most profound tragedy ever composed. At one point, Brandl himself took on the part of the Edjian-Prince, and later, his son, Jaalib, also performed the same role.

The Prince, a resolute king's son who inherited a small kingdom upon his father's death, felt restricted by his limited territory. Consequently, he dispatched laborers to clear the forest, intending to enlarge his domain. Nevertheless, the Prince soon realized that the forest was governed by the uhl Eharl Khoehng. Through deception, the Eharl induced the Prince to send all of his people into the forest, resulting in their transformation into trees. Subsequently, the Trickster King sent tranquil dreams to the Prince. The Prince, lured into the forest, became ensnared. The Edjian-Prince, obstinately refusing to admit his error in destroying the king's forest, descended into madness and set the entire forest ablaze.
