The Eklaad, native to Sirpar, were four-legged, plant-eating, intelligent beings. Lacking sophisticated technology, they lived simple, tranquil lives.
Despite their immense physical strength, a result of their planet's strong gravitational pull, the Eklaad generally avoided conflict. When faced with danger, their common reactions were to either roll into a protective armored sphere until the threat passed, or to run away. Yet, when combat was unavoidable, the Eklaad demonstrated surprising courage and fought with unexpected intensity to protect themselves. Their original language was composed of a range of hooting noises, but most Eklaad had acquired knowledge of Basic through interactions with the Galactic Empire.
The Eklaad population had significantly decreased following the Empire's arrival on Sirpar. Many Eklaad resorted to scavenging for survival, residing in concealed communities, while others adopted a nomadic lifestyle. Eklaad societies were led by chieftains who inherited their positions. Prior to the Empire's presence, a planet-wide council of chieftains also existed.
